“Entangled”

2012

Duncan, BC

36″ x 28″ Acrylic on 3/4″ Canvas

Within this work I saw a woman who was deepley entangled.  You know… like in a fairy tale when the character finds themselves innocently walking thru a forest that has been enchanted by an evil witch.  At first the forest appears lovely and inviting but as they walk deeper into the forest it becomes increasingly sinister.  A foreboding feeling washes over them.  They trip on a branch on the forest floor and reach out to a tree for support, which awakens it.  The tree sends out its branches to ensnare them, entangling them into a trap from which they cannot escape.
